Winery “ZUR DANKBARKEIT, Podersdorf

The “Gasthaus zur Dankbarkeit” and the associated winery as well as the Heuriger “Podersdorfer Weinstuben” look back on a long family tradition. Built up by the great-grandfather, the business has been passed down through generations. The traditional craft has not been lost sight of, and the knowledge of generations of experienced winemakers continues to be drawn upon.

Josef Lentsch III passed the winery into the hands of daughter Christine Glück in 2019. Together with her husband Andreas, she brings a breath of fresh air to the classic gratitude repertoire and now continues the tradition-rich business in the fourth generation. The two convince with their professional qualification, which is particularly evident in the development and care of the wines.

The winery cultivates a vineyard area of ten hectares. Of particular interest are the Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, which in good years are both also developed as Prädikatsweine. The Ried Karmarzik, called “Schrammel” among locals, is their favorite vineyard. It lies directly on the lake in the direction of “Hölle” (the lowest point in Austria) and is pure light alluvial sand, which brings out the clear fruit. Despite moderate acidity, the wines are very durable and harmonious. The site is located in the middle of the National Park, and Welschriesling and Pinot Blanc also thrive particularly well here. In 1989 these vineyards were planted out, and since 1998 the grapes grown there have been used to produce Prädikat wines every year.

The “Gasthaus zur Dankbarkeit”, which Christine’s brother Markus Lentsch runs, has been an institution for decades. Since 2016, there are also guest rooms in the so-called “Nachtquartier”, which is run by Christine’s sister.
